Not always.

SEO for blogs or organic search engine optimization is a technique that requires time, training, and specific knowledge. Being a professional in the field is not easy. But not all companies have enough resources to hire a Digital Marketing Agency to optimize their content for search engines, or there are simple tasks (such as writing the blog) that they prefer to do themselves.

If this is your case and you write for your company’s blog, but these contents do not reach where you wanted, don’t worry, we give you a checklist of 5 basic aspects that you can optimize from now on!

No need to have technical knowledge. Just so that your blog writing is SEO oriented, that is, it is designed so that those users who do not know you… can find you through Google!

The basis of your SEO blog text: Keywords.

What is the first thing you have to do? Have in your head, on paper, in Excel, wherever you want… a list of the keywords for which you want to position your website. If you want to apply SEO strategies for blogs, this is the beginning.

Think about them when writing your content. Don’t go round and round.

A piece of advice. Before writing the article we advise you to put a list of keywords on which you are going to position this article. This way, these words will always be present in the writing.

Ideally, you should do keyword research or keyword research and always keep it in mind when writing and planning your content plan. If you do not need to complicate too much if you are starting, you just need to create an excel and there you have them registered.

Have a friendly URL or easy-access link.

Once you are clear about your keywords, the URL is the first aspect you should think about. This is the “skeleton” of your post. It is the base, the root.

The URL is the link through which you will be accessed by both search engines and social networks. So, try to make sure it complies with a series of requirements:

  • The URL must be friendly, that is, easy to write. An easy-to-access link.
  • Do not dirty your URL with words that do not contribute anything. And never include symbols or strange characters, not even “Ñ”.
  • A very common mistake is to leave the default URL generated by your content management system, for example, if your blog is in a WordPress the default system creates the URL after the title. If your title is long… it will be too.

If the content manager you use is WordPress it is very simple. You will see something like this. If by default you leave the URL that is generated with the text you put in the title field.

Just click on edit and put a simple URL. Take the opportunity to include your keywords.

Edit it before publishing. Once the post is published and shared, it is not advisable to edit it because the post will have already been indexed with that link. And it is possible that it has been shared by networks, which will generate 404 errors, etc. (In short, it is negative for your SEO for the blog).

The headings

The next elements you can’t forget to add to your blog post are the headings.

If you use a blog hosted on WordPress it’s easy. No technical knowledge is needed.

Every published post should include:

  • A Title 1 or H1
  • Between 2 and 4 Title 2 H2
  • Between 2 and 4 Title 3 H3
  • You can also include some h4 or h5, but it is not necessary to include it always.

How to include headings in WordPress

WordPress has a very simple visual builder.

Title 1 (h1) is automatically assigned the title above.

The rest we have to put manually in the text field.

Either to edit a new post or others that you have already uploaded just select the text you want to put as Title, for example, title 2, and select the value we want to give.

Finally, the text will be better structured and in terms of positioning, we will have more chances to be found.
